Entry: To prove that I am using m' very own Facebook data on my 'About me, cause I'm awesome' page, I've added a little Facebook badge in the northwest quadrant of such web page; upon mouse over, the page will light up w/ data that has been consumed from the Facebook API, and upon mouse out, it shall revert to its original state.

It's like those cute little fireflies that I used to catch and torture whilst I was barely four feet tall. On. Off. On. Off.

Entry: I'm planning to move hosting companies because of Dreamhost's incompetence. Moving all m' crap to a new hosting company (any suggestions?) will be a pain.

I asked the Y! Answers team if they would like to buy m' Answers Facebook application (no negotiated price). It's a no-go and I understand. I deleted the app from Facebook, cause I don't want to support it any longer—though I haven't recently. After 287 installs, it's uninstalled. Heh heh.

I'm sure they'll set up meetings and create action items to develop the next one. How much does that cost the company?

Entry: Wow, Facebook is pushing itself into important issues by sponsoring (or however they are participating) the "online" piece to the Presidential Debates in New Hampshire. I've played w/ their FB Politics App and it's refreshing to read perspectives from other members, sans some of the 'noise.'

I'm surprised that Y! hadn't tried to jump into the opportunity, riding the election year (at least 10 months) marketing bandwagon; Yahoo! is a media company, ain't it? Or is it just an entertainment portal, an online "cable TV box?" What was its mission statement? "Share .... communities .... explore ...." Hmm, yeah.

A year and half ago, Y! Answers opened its doors to politicians and discussed important issues w/ tens of thousands of responses. See Hilary Clinton, Nancy Pelosi, Barack Obama, Mitt Romney. Could it have been more? It should have been.

Okay, if Facebook can engage more and more of apathetic America, then more power to 'em, regardless of the beacon bullshit and being the latest web 2.0 whipping boy for Techcrunch and Valleywag. The interwebs is much, much more than just advertising and porn.

Entry: I've cobbled up a PHP script to send status messages to your Facebook, Twitter and Jaiku accounts simultaneously. All you need is a PHP environment to run the script and accounts for each service; these values are set in a static array near the top of the file. If you don't have one, then just leave 'em blank. The code will just skip over.

I've also added some YUI goodness to make the experience a bit more bearable.

- the Timeline hack: the individual display is much prettier.
- the Answers Facebook application: now you can share your questions w/ your Facebook buddies. There's also a daily process that updates your profile w/ your latest questions.
