Entry: I've "optimized" m' website for the iphone / ipod touch webkit interface. only the Blog page right now because it's hard to consume the other content within the confines of a 480*320 (something like that) viewport.

Currently, you can only read the latest entries. I've yanked comments, labels (Google's idea of tags), ads and the widgets in the right pane. I am only using CSS to render the view different; I think Symfony—m' current MVC framework—should handle what web assets should be delivered, rather than giving everything to the client and tweaking henceforth. There's a big payload of files that the user downloads when requesting the web browser view. Must figure better solution.

Well, in the end, the yahooza.com iphone interface is more than functional and I am happy 'bout that.

Entry: Yep, I took the plunge. The numbers haven't switched yet, so the transaction is in purgatory. I bought an episode of Buffy (Passion, season dos, the murder of Jenny Calendar) and Firefly (Out of Gas) and the quality is nice.

Also, did the jailbreak thing w/ help from m' Twittersphere.

I'm also a bit grumpy about needing to "sync" content versus draggin'-and-droppin' m' crap to the device. How do I move m' iPod-ready videos to the phone without needing to purchase 'em from iTunes? Geez louise, Apple, don't get too greedy (evil), aight?

Entry: I stopped by the local ATT store to see if I could upgrade to an iPhone on the same existing plan.

Unfortunately, it's a no go. I would need to sign up for a new family plan at $69.99, upgrade my mom's phone and pay an additional $20 for data service on the iPhone. That doesn't include the $500 for the damn Apple gizmo. I could probably receive a free phone for the second line, so money out is basically the iPhone and monthly dues.

~$95 (w/ taxes) for an upgraded plan w/ a nifty phone or $55 (w/ taxes) for my current, practical plan. That's almost $500 a year ($1000, because of the two year agreement).

I think I'll stick to rotary, thanks.
