buying a home

After months of searching, my mom and i finally found, offered and were aceepted for a cute townhouse in San Mateo. It’s a 2 bed / 2.5 bath townhouse / condo with undergraound parking, new carpet and applianances, W/D, etc. it’s very pricey for a shared unit and probably won’t appreciate as much as single family, but it’s been remodeled with new digs, is in a great location and a block away from my friend, Jason. We were among 12 other offers and placed 3rd to 5th place; luckily, there were 9 other units in the complex that were going to hit the market and we snared one of them. We bid 36k over the asking price and were countered with price 42k over. We took it. The bay area real estate market is absurd; the demand for property is phenomonal. I really don’t know how people afford these places … Escrow starts tomorrow and will (hopefully) conclude on the 8th of December. Whew!
